I Am Worthy
2023 - ongoing
IIn 2019, Georgia introduced a law on sexual harassment, but women’s safety and well-being often remain secondary to traditional family values. Married women with children are highly respected, while single or divorced women face stigma, often being labeled negatively. Social pressure forces many victims of domestic violence to stay in abusive relationships to maintain their image, fearing societal rejection and even threats to their lives if they attempt to leave.
Over the last decade, Georgia’s feminist movement has grown, leading to the creation of women’s shelters, support centers, and organizations. These provide victims with shelter, counseling, and legal assistance, empowering them to escape abusive relationships and build independent lives.
“I Am Worthy” shows portraits of feminists, activists and survivors of domestic violence in Georgia. They are accompanied by quotes taken from interviews and exhibited as a whole.
